Staatliche Zerfallsprozesse zerstören nicht nur die soziokulturellen, wirtschaftlichen und politischen Grundlagen der jeweiligen Bevölkerung, sondern stellen auch eine neue Herausforderung für die internationale Gemeinschaft dar. Welche internen und externen Ursachen liegen dem Verfall von Staatlichkeit zugrunde? Und welche Dimensionen umfasst dieser Prozess? Diesen Fragen wird anhand von Fallbeispielen aus verschiedenen Kontinenten nachgegangen.
